NORTH GLENROTHES COMMUNITY COUNCIL

 

Minutes of the meeting held in Christ’s Kirk, Pitcoudie, on Thursday 15th May at 7 pm.

 

1.  Chairperson  Ron Page welcomed members of the public as well as NGCC members to the meeting.

 

2. Attendance:   Ron Page, Mary  Wallace, Shaun Jackson, Margaret Simpson, Denise Wallace, George Coyle, Pat McKie, Joy Neal, Peter Brown, and Evlyn Allsop.  Also present were PCs Bennett and Lessels and Cllr John Beare.    Apologies were intimated from John Thomson, Ian Lister, Hugh Bowie, Jean Archer and Cllr Grant.

 

3. Minute  of the April meeting was approved.

 

4. Matters arising : A Newsletter was being processed ahead of Fun Day;  Fun Day arrangements were progressing well.

 

5. Correspondence  items were tabled for members.

 

6. Reports:

 

(a) Community Police :  PC Bennett announced that PC Gill Robertson had retired and introduced the new Community Police Officer for the north, Jim Lessels.

 

(b) Treasurer  Denise Wallace gave a comprehensive statement of the finances of both the General and Gilvenbank accounts.

 

(c) Fun Day :  Organiser Evlyn Allsop thanked those who were working for the success of the 2009 Fun Day on 27th June and stated that arrangements were well in hand. The new arrangements for hiring equipment and labour costs she hoped would be clear in the forthcoming Fife Council grant.  She added that it would be helpful for the future to have lists of such charges, and Cllr Beare agreed to investigate.

 

7. Glenrothes Area Futures Group :  Ron Page outlined recent work by the Group on the town centre and the A92.  He explained that the Prospect Group had not liaised positively with the GAFG, hence no GAFG and little local input to the recent conference.

 

8. Councillor John Beare  dealt with a variety of matters  -  e.g. poor paper/litter uptake in Balgeddie, Collydean housing security issues, the lack of a footpath to Pitcoudie priary school being mentioned inCllr Grant’s recent newsletter, dog fowling in Gilvenbank Park, the dangerous crossing from Pitcoudie primary school across Huntsman’s Road and rumours of financial cuts in school budgets.

 

9. The speaker for the meeting, Lindsay Roy M.P.,  was introduced by the Chairman.  Mr Roy gave an account of his last week’s 7 days of work as a typical work week and answered a variety of questions.  Ron gave the vote of thanks and the audience showed their appreciation.

 

10. Next Meeting  is at Collydean Neighbourhood Centre on Thursday 11th June at 7 pm, the speaker being Tricia Marwick, MSP.
