North Glenrothes Community Council
Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 11th June 2009 in Collydean Neighbourhood Centre.
1. In attendance were: Chairperson Ron Page, Secretary Margaret Simpson, Treasurer Denise Wallace,
Vice-Chair Mary Wallace, Shaun Jackson, Pat McKie, Colin Nikolic, Community Police Representatives
P.C’s Fraser & Stevens, Cllr Bill Kay
Apologies from: Cllrs Beare and Grant; Evlyn Allsopp & Jean Archer
2. Ron opened the meeting and welcomed the evenings speaker Tricia Marwick MSP.
3. Minutes of the May meeting were approved.
4. Matters Arising : Regretfully Cllr Beare has not responded to any points from previous meeting.
Reply received from Greig Henderson re glass at Riverside Park.
5. The resignation of Mary Bray was noted and Denise is to make a card and send it to her with thanks.
6. Reports : (a) Treasurer - nothing to report
(b) Police – P.C Steven introduced herself as Community Officer for the area along with
P. C Jarrett.
Reported 700 plants stolen from Riverside Park, no clues yet but probably
not vandalism. Introduced ‘Operation Laser` A poster and leaflet campaign
regarding vandalism, drugs and alcohol.
(c) Newsletter – The newsletter has been printed and is with Scouts for distribution. Some
will be l eft in local schools also and public places.
(d) FunDay – Last meeting to be held on the 24th June 7.00pm at Christfs Kirk for
final arrangements.
Prizes are coming in, Denise to collect vouchers from Gilvenbank Hotel.
7. Futures Group – Ron urged everyone to complete `Review of Fife’s Local Transport`form – all agreed it
was a misleading questionnaire.
General discussion ensued including questions to Cllr Kay.
8. Correspondence – Various items were tabled.
9. Speaker - Tricia Marwick MSP gave a general description of her work as an MSP she praised the Police
and their efforts. She urged the Local Councillors to replace the plants stolen from Riverside Park
as this was the centrepiece for Britain in Bloom entry. She defended Scottish Parliament during
expenses row stating all MSP expenses were available to view on the web site. An independent
body has been brought in to ensure their system is still working correctly.
She stated she supported the Leven – Thornton rail link and it was Fife’s No 1 priority.
