NORTH GLENROTHES COMMUNITY COUNCIL.

 

Minutes of meeting held on Thursday 10th September 2009 at Collydean Neighbourhood Centre.

 

1.  Chairperson Ron Page opened the meeting by welcoming all present.

 

2. He then introduced  the speaker for the evening, Mary Hill Director of the YMCA / YWCA

Mary gave a passionate insight in to the YMCA from its beginning in 1958 to today and what they do for the local youth and homeless of the Glenrothes area. She spoke of the drugs programme DELTA which is running at present and enter schools to give pupils talks on drugs; a programme which they hope to expand in the future. Many interesting questions were asked which Mary and fellow Community Council Member Jim Lewis, who is also greatly involved with the YMCA, answered in detail. Mary ended with an invitation to all Community Council Members to visit either the Community Centre or one of their homeless units. The session lasted over an hour and finally Ron thanked Mary for joining us.

 

A short meeting followed.

Apologies were intimated from Colin Nikolic, Mary Wallace, Denise Wallace, Evlyn Allsop, Pat McKie & Cllrs Morrison & Grant    

 

4. Minutes of the last meeting were approved.   

 

5. Matters Arising  - Cllr Morrison was to investigate parking at Lismore Court.

Ron & Cllr Morrison had a meeting regarding the issues at Beechwood Park.  

 

6.    Correspondence: All members received a copy of the proposal for Cadham Village               conservation area. Comments agreed upon at the Office Bearers Meeting on 2nd September were sent to Diane Barbary.  

 

7. Reports: Nothing to report   

 

8. Glenrothes Area Futures Group - A92 petition is with the Scottish Parliament.

Discussions on the town centre continue.  

 

9. Questions to councillor  -  

Paths to rear of fire station & Forresters Road were very overgrown and strewn with litter. Cllr Kay to report.   

 

Next Meeting - Thursday 8th October in Christs Kirk Church Hall.  The speaker will be Lorna Johnstone Environmental Strategy Assistant and the title of her talk will be 'Recycling Adviser Intervention Programmes'.
