North Glenrothes Community Council

 

Meeting held on Thursday 11th February 2010 in Christ’s Kirk hall at 7.00 p.m.

 

1. Chairperson’s Remarks:  Mr Page welcomed all to the meeting, with a special welcome to Linda Greig, Cultural Co-ordinator for Celebrating Fife 2010 and Alan Bisset from Fife’s Parks Department.  An Open Day was to be held in Alexander Road Office on 1st March when suggestions and requests for grants would be discussed.

Mr Bisset gave a resume of proposals for fitness equipment to be placed in  Gilvenbank Park near the Family Play Area.  This was remitted to the Gilvenbank sub-group.

Ms Greig gave an outline of cultural events happening in Fife in 2010 and gave valuable information re. possible funding.  Members appreciated her informative presentation.

In his continuing Chairperson’s remarks Ron Stated his regret at no up-date on the Council’s budget since there were no councillors present.  He reported from the Futures Group that a final announcement on Sainsburys coming to Glenrothes was imminent.  The GAFG had welcomed the Fife Council’s Action Plan for the town centre and had started a consultation exercise and competition about this with pupils from the local high schools, involving a possible 3,000 pupils.  And meanwhile he hoped that Transport Scotland’s promised assessments of the A92 Balfarg and Cadham junctions were under way.  Minutes of the GAFG’s AGM were now available to everyone.

2. Present were: Ron Page, Mary Wallace, Shaun Jackson, Margaret Simpson, Denise Wallace, Jean Archer, Hugh Bowie,  George Coyle, Alex Davie, Tony  Groundwater, Jim Lewis, Ian Lister, Joy Neal and Evlyn Allsop.  In attendance from the public was Mrs Wilma Page.

3. Apologies were noted from Cllrs Beare, Morrison and Kay, Pat McKie and colin Nikloic.

4. Minute of the last meeting:  approved.

5. Matters arising:

(a) The public meeting on the post office had been poorly attended.  It appeared that the franchise for the post office was with WH Smith.

(b) A meeting had taken place at Lismore Court re. the problems there, the white line painting to take place soon and a review of parking spaces.  A review of all such courtyards in north Glenrothes was promised by the Locality Manager in the summer. Ian Lister would forward his survey of cars and residents to the Chairperson and locality Manager.

(c) Dr Robertson had now agreed to speak soon at a NGCC meeting.

(d) A review of placing the NGCC Minutes in the Gazette would take place.

(e) The community police public meeting held in Cadham Neighbourhood Centre had been poorly attended.

6. Correspondence:  Margaret reported that the Glenrothes Area Residents Federation had agreed to come to a CC meeting.  The changes in local bus services from 15th February were noted.  It was suggested that the reply on grit bins from Head of Transportation be placed on the NGCC website for all to read.  The secretary stated no reply from the ASCC.

7. Reports:

(a)  The Treasurer made a print-out of finances available for all members.  The current account balance was £3,189 and the Gilvenbank Park Account stood at £10,836, with most of this due when invoices arrived.

(b) Organiser of the Fun Day of 19th June 2010, Sean Jackson, reported on progress to date.  Discussion took place on 1. The need for volunteers,  2. The need for gazebos,  3, generator hire,  cost of portable toilets, a £50 donation was made by Jean Archer for the raffle, prizes for the raffle, Alan Bisset was nominated to open the Fun Day.  

(c) A meeting of the Fun Day group was set for 4th March in Christ’s Kirk hall at 7 p.m.

8. Questions to Councillors:  not possible.

10. Next Meeting:  Thursday 11th March, with Locality Manager Greig Henderson to speak on “The Future of Fife’s Local Offices”.  The meeting closed at 9.00 p.m.
